An abandoned radio tower, a foraged menu, shearling heels, and the LA skyline. A product launch for a collaboration between Ugg and Eckhaus Latta brought us to Los Angeles to cook for a dinner party in the sky, perched on a 9-acre hill top with sweeping views of the city. When we began to unpack our truckload of ingredients, a nickel-sized tree frog hopped out of a bucket of freshly picked wild mallow leaves, undoubtedly blessing us with the good luck we needed to prepare a family-style meal for 85 in a true “field kitchen”, set up in the bushes and under the blazing summer sun.
Zoe (Latta), sultry priestess of ceremonies, decked us out in Eckhaus Latta apparel and shoes. Our crew grilled a sheep-focused meal including grass-fed rack, purslane salad, wild mushroom agua chile, calabacitas, flat bread + calamari, and wild harvested huckleberry and pine nut tartlets, inspired by the feral and haute aesthetic of the iconic product launch. Meanwhile, our littlest team member (six months old at the time) got to meet a trio of rockstar sisters (HAIM). We had the privilege of working under the creative direction of event designer Erica Sarlo and alongside Isa Isa floral and mixologist Arley Marx , in celebration of a collaborative shoe line created by our friends at Eckhaus Latta and Ugg . We were proud to see a petit mention of our work with these powerhouse artists and designers here in the LA times. Views of an otherworldly floral installation, tablescapes with Zoe’s hand-dyed linens, and bespoke, ceramic shot glasses created by our very own Dafni Moon of Clothing Optional Ceramics, are below.
